During the cable driver installation it may show "install failed" at
the end of process, however you may still find the virtual com port is
loaded upon plugging in the cable. Follow steps [here] if the driver is
properly installed. If it does not happen, you will need to uninstall
the cable, restart the computer and try again.
You need to load the cable driver from the CD manually, or re-insert
the CD.
1. Make sure the cable driver is installed PRIOR TO installing the PC
Suite/other software; otherwise the Suite/program will not detect the
cable.
2. Check if the virtual com port is available. It can be
done by opening the Device Manager under Control Panel - System -
Hardware, and expand the com port connection item. USB-to-Serial
connection should be found.
3. Adjust the connection speed by
right clicking the USB-to-Serial connection under Device Manager and
select [Properties]. Most computers work with 115200bps but others will
only run at 57600bps and 9600bps. You should not need to test with other
speeds.
4. [NOKIA] The PC Suite may not detect the cable automatically upon
launching. You may need to plug out the cable, choose Select Connection
- Serial Port and then plug in the cable again.
5. [SAMSUNG] Certain models work for "plug in cable before launching
EasyGPRS/EasyStudio", while others need launching the software first and
plug in the cable second. So please try both.
If "Accessory Not Supported" is displayed on the mobile, recharge the
battery until full before another attempt. If the error message still
occurs, please contact our service team for a replacement.
USB ports on front panels, hubs, splitters and laptop coputers have a
lower voltage. Connect the cable directly to the motherboard or the
PCI/CardBus adapter if possible.
If possible, try on another computer as certain motherboards (notably
Taiwanese/Chinese made) have lower connectivity. We've had no problems
with Asustek motherboards (even though it's from Taiwan) but having
difficulty with Leadtek and MSI motherboards; which are otherwise
exactly the same configuration.
Samsung has developed various programs for different models, refer to
the Samsung European website for comprehensive program guidance. Most
notably, current models like E700 uses EasyStudio for data transfer (but
the Melody to Phone and Image to Phone features are replaced by File
Manager within EasyStudio); E715 uses EasyGPRS (which is also for
phonebook, ringtones and images transfer). PC Link is for older models
only.
Some Samsung users reported that Java applications and
games cannot be transferred through the cable, we are still examining
the cause of the issue.
